Youtube blocked in Turkmenistan
The access to the website youtube has been blocked since early September and up till present.
Despite that fact that MTS (Mobile Tele Systems) launched its operations in the Turkmen market, the company is unable to function without taking into consideration the "opinions" expressed by the authorities. Turkmentelecom still remains the main Internet provider and blocks the majority of websites, which often post negative publications on the policies implemented by the Turkmen authorities.
On Friday we received confirmation that youtube, which was blocked earlier this month, still remains inaccessible.
According to our sources, the main reason for blocking youtube is the webpage
TurkmenDissidentTV, which posts satirical animated cartoons, deriding the former and the existing authorities of Turkmenistan.
