G. Annaniyazov's daughter failed to leave Turkmenistan
Last week Gulgeldy Annaniyazov's daughter attempted to exit Turkmenistan together with her family but the country's special services prevented them from leaving the country.
The Turkmen dissident Gulgeldy Annaniyazov obtained a refugee status in Norway in 2002. In June 2008 he entered Turkmenistan illegally without the prior approval of the Turkmen authorities. Later he was arrested by the Turkmen special services and is currently kept in custody.
The Norwegian authorities granted G. Annaniyazov's daughter and her family the right to enter Norway. However, the representatives of the special services refused to allow Annaniyazov's relatives to leave Turkmenistan on the grounds that the investigation of his criminal case had not been finalized.
